A Stay at the Abaca, Cebu

If you fancy a few days in Cebu, Philippines but wan’t to steer clear of the sprawling resorts, why not check out the Abaca?  This is Jetlag & Mayhem’s second glowing review of this gorgeous little boutique gem.

Abaca Pool 2

Who:  Sarah, partner & 17 mth old baby boy
Where:  Abaca Hotel, Lapu Lapu, Cebu
When:  May 15th for 4 nights (weather was perfect – clear skies, not too hot, rained a little over night with cool evenings

Getting to Cebu
Took a direct flight with Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong very early in the morning so had most of the day when we got there and returned late on last day so all day by the pool.

Hotel Booking
Through Lightfoot Travel (ed note – awesome travel agent, if you decide to book with them, please tell them Jetlag & Mayhem sent you!)

Airport Transfer
This was arranged through the hotel and the transfer is a 15 minute journey.  There was a butler waiting at the airport – the first thing he said was ‘ah and this must be Master Harry’, so welcoming!

Abaca Hotel Room

The Room
This was lovely.  Very clean, good condition and spacious.  There are only 9 rooms and we had a front facing middle floor room.  Had a very late check out (6:30pm) on the last day and were moved into another room for the day at no cost, which was a ground floor pool front room looking out to sea.  Again spacious, clean and well equipped.

Abaca Bathroom

All about the kids
The Abaca provided travel cot, bath, steriliser, plastic play sand pit by our sun loungers, pool toys, very fully stocked playroom, highchairs of various shapes and sizes, babysitting, baby Einstein DVD in room – anything you wanted really!

Facilities
There is a pool and spa at the hotel.

Dining
There is only one restaurant but the best food we have had as far as we can remember ever on holiday!  We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.  You could eat at one of the poolside cabanas, on your own balcony/room or the restaurant.  So accommodating; we were asked on the first day what Harry wanted to eat for each meal and checked each day.  Brilliant chef and kitchen team!

Abaca Restaurant 2

Overall – We didn’t leave the hotel for 4 days!  We would go back to the Abaca at the drop of a hat!
