Affordable Villas in Phuket – Review of Phuket Beachfront Villas Cape Panwa

My friend Christine recently returned from her New Year break at Phuket Beachfront Villas with her 3.5yo.  Read her review below:

Who:  2 families (4 adults, 3 kids)
When:  Dec 2012
Where:  Phuket Beachfront Villas, Cape Panwa, Phuket – Thailand

This was booked with villas direct online at http://www.phuketbeachfrontvillas.net/rate.htm.  Xmas/New Year period requires a minimum 7 night stay but through the rest of the year it’s 2 nights.

Flights were booked online with Air Asia.
** Top tip, I managed to login via UK website and got a cheaper price than booking the same flights through their Hong Kong site

Air Asia was on time.  It’s no frills so make sure you bring your own food with you

The villas are 45-50 mins from the airport.  Transfers were organised through the villa (transfer on arrival included in price)

Phuket Beachfront Villas is a complex of 12 similar villas in Cape Panwa.  The villas are in a row of 4, set on 3 levels.  I would recommend that you only go for a villa on the ground floor as this will save you having to make the journey from the beach/pool each time, especially important if you’re traveling with young kids.

We were 2 families (5 adults, 3 kids), sharing a 3 bedroom villa.  The villa has 3 ensuite bedrooms with King size beds and also an office downstairs (where our nanny slept).  The Master bedroom also has a bathtub.  Downstairs is a huge living area and kitchen.  The kitchen stocks most things but we ended up buying our own cafetiere.

The villas are furnished simply but the villa owner is on hand to provide you with any extras you might need e.g. High Chairs, Travel Cots, kids cutlery, extra bed…  The villa owner has 2 kids herself she has a lot of kid stuff available.

They sent a cleaning service daily and sheets are changed every 3 days.  You can also book extra bits e.g. chef, driver, babysitting

The Manager provides you with a charged mobile and leaves you with numbers for massage, taxis etc

The villas don’t have individual pools but share a huge pool (40m) which is located in front of the ground floor villas.  Despite all 12 villas being fully booked for Xmas/New Year period, the pool was never too busy and you could always get a sunlounger.  There is no separate kids pool.

There are 2 gates leading down to the beach.  It’s a small bay where lots of sailing boats anchor. If you walk to the right you come to a rocky patch and if you head left, there are some hotels and beachside restaurants.  The stretch of beach outside the hotels is kept clean.

Although you can reach hotels and a few restaurants via the beach, if you exit the villa complex at street level there is nothing nearby, not even a local shop.

Best bits

  • This place is great value for money and we would return with friends.  We had a great price over New Year, if you were to go off peak, it would be even better
  • Visit the super hip hotel, Sri Panwar (15 min taxi ride) and eat at their Thai restaurant, Baba Soul Food

It’s good that reviews are always available online. You know, when we want to spend some of our hard earned money, we really want to feel its bang. We only want the best when we plan vacation and reading good reviews help people convince that there is really something to try here. Thanks for the good review.
