Easter Fun At Hong Kong’s Hotel ICON

Hong Kong’s Hotel ICON is a stylish, fun hotel in the heart of the action in Tsim Sha Tsui. With breathtaking views over to Hong Kong island, it’s a more affordable option for families looking for a luxury Hong Kong stay without the sky high prices.

I’d heard a lot of good things about the ICON since its opening in 2011 but had yet to check it out (its famed sunday brunch has a 3 month waiting list!).  However a few weeks ago, we took ourselves off the island, hopped on the Star Ferry and made our way over to this TST gem.

The ICON has quite an interesting story as it is also the training ground for future hoteliers (as part of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University).  The hotel has a boutique feel, paying homage to various ‘icons’ such as the Hong Kong Suite that was designed by Vivienne Tam.  There are three dining options; Green, Above & Beyond (a Cantonese Michelin affair) and The Market.  We enjoyed a delicious weekend brunch at The Market – there’s a huge range of food from all over the world and the desserts are outstanding!  The restaurant is also very family friendly (love it when you get crayons and plastic cutlery).

If you’re considering a staycation in Hong Kong over Easter weekend there’s lots going on at the hotel. The Easter brunch will have kiddy activities which include decorating and of course eating chocolate.

Easter fun at Hotel IconThe rooftop pool is beautiful and if the weather’s bad, you can get an Xbox 360 or watch a DVD from the library.  For families requiring more than one room, check out the Happy Families rooms which are adjoining rooms.  Rates start from HK$3,688 per night for two connecting rooms, along with daily complimentary breakfast buffet for four.

The Easter Staycation package offers some great benefits like complimentary breakfasts, harbour view rooms, a set dinner for two, spa discounts in our Angsana Spa, yoga classes, parking and more. If you stay 2 nights or more, the room is $2,180 per night which is great value for a Hong Kong luxury hotel.

Even if you live in Hong Kong, the ICON is a fun choice for a family staycation as it is on the doorstep of many of the city’s best attractions; the Hong Kong Museum of History (my favourite), the Science Museum and the 8pm light show at the Avenue Of The Stars.

Jetlag & Mayhem was invited to brunch at the Hotel ICON and is not affiliated to the brand or paid for this review.
