Family Travel In Europe With FlyBe

This post is written in association with Flybe

I was recently back in my hometown of London and catching up with friends. They were filling me in on all their recent minibreaks and holidays around Europe and I felt quite jealous of all the great places you can access from London. Having lived in Hong Kong for the past 7 years, my kids are spoiled through their visits to SE Asia. Yet they know nothing of Europe and all the excitement that awaits when we eventually return home. So whilst it’s merely a bucket list for me now, here are my picks for the best minibreaks in Europe! Not only that but they are all accessible through cheap flights as Flybe offer many different routes within Europe.

Amsterdam, Holland

After chomping our way through pancakes at London’s My Old Dutch, it’s time to get the real deal. Amsterdam is a fun place to take the kids from setting sail on a canal boat to visiting a real life windmill. Older kids should pay a visit to the Anne Frank Museum and everyone should go to the Van Gogh Museum.

Munich, Germany

Held annually, Oktoberfest is the world’s largest funfair. From kids rides to beer drinking there is something for everyone. Be sure to visit on the Tuesday, which is family day.

If you can’t make it in October, Munich has plenty to offer families for the rest of the year including Munich Zoo, The Museum of science & technology and Schloss Nymphenbourgh. For tips on visiting Oktoberfest with young kids click here.

Newquay, Cornwall

Forget paradise beaches in SE Asia, some of the most beautiful scenery is to be found along the UK’s southwest coast. If you’re not content with playing on the beaches and learning to surf, you can also visit Dairyland farm and the Lobster Museum. If you’re a gourmet then Cornwall is also home to some top notch restaurants including Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. Of course it would be rude to leave Cornwall without trying its famous pasty or a proper cream tea.

Watergate Bay - Beach at Sunset

Paris, France

My daughter recently learned about the Eiffel Tower and I promised I would take her to Paris one day. This is a city overloaded with culture from the Louvre and Versailles to Notre Dame and the Paris Catacombs. Most importantly if your kids are too young for any culture, you can head straight to Eurodisney!
