Review of the Four Seasons Country Club – Portugal

A huge thanks to Kate for the following review on the Four Seasons Quinta Do Lago, Algarve.  Before you get a bit confused, this isn’t related to the Four Seasons hotel chain.  This is the Four Seasons Country Club (FSCC), an independent property.  But just as fabulously five star as that other chain…

Who: Kate, husband, Sophia (2) and Tori (5 mths)
Where: Quinta Do Lago Four Seasons Country Club, Algarve – Portugal
When: First two weeks of July

Flight Booking
Online with easyJet

Villa Booking
This was a bit convoluted.. we chose the villa we wanted through the rentals agency but then paid via an agent.  This was a mistake as we could have gone via the owners website (my mum is an owner) and booked directly to save fees.

Car Hire
This was booked through a comparison website so we didn’t know the name of the company until we arrived at Car Park 4 at Faro Airport – what a mistake!  The car office was difficult to find and then we had to fit the car seat ourselves without any instruction… in the heat of the midday

Tip – book car hire in Portugal with a big firm to save time and hassle with car seats

The Flight (Luton, UK to Faro, Portugal)
Tip – we booked valet parking at Luton – so nice and easy if not taking a taxi

Easyjet is a little rough and ready but I came prepared with Peppa Pig on tablet, aqua doodle games, some lego and lots of food and milk!

Easyjet broke our buggy (even though it wrapped in a specialist padded carry pack) but they have since repaired it for free…

Tips – book specific seats with airline when booking the tickets… double check the booking policies with kids as easyjet messed us around a lot but I sorted it all pre take off day but would have been a nightmare at Luton

The Villa
We had a three bed villa – which was lovely – great kitchen, bathrooms and sitting areas.  Air con too and a lovely terrace with BBQ.  Plus daily maid service.
The Country Club provided a cot and high chairs in the villa.

Facilities
These were great; mini supermarket on site, main supermarket 5 mins drive away, cute shopping centre for lunch a 15 minute walk away, beach 5 minute drive, restaurant on site, Kids Clubs, on site play centre – slide, climbing frame etc, indoor and outdoor pools all lifeguarded.
Portugal Four Seasons Pool
Kids Club
There is a crèche available in the mornings and all day Wednesday (for golf competition). The Kids Clubs are open all summer for a small cost.
Restaurants
There are two onsite; one posh for the evenings and one for lunch by the pool. Both a little pricey but good ranges for freshly made healthy food for all the family.
Local Beaches
There are so many beaches near the FSCC but the best was only a five-minute drive away.  Be aware you have to pay for parking in peak season and pay for beach loungers.  The beach is clean, sandy and the water is a little rough but very clean and warm.  Four Seasons puts on a free shuttle to and from the beach every 30 minutes.
Excursions
We went to Faro old town, Villamoura Marina for a classic old cars show and lunch and to an Aqua Park (overpriced)
FSCC also runs excursions but we didn’t do any as we had our car.
Overall we loved the Four Seasons Country Club and would definitely return!
