Family friendly InterContinental Bali Resort (they’ve got Resort Nannies!)

I’ve been to the bewitching Indonesian island of Bali many times (although the last few times I’ve left the kids at home…ssshhhh..)  Luckily I have some luxury family travel reviewers to give us the inside scoop.

Who: Siok, husband, Harish (2 years 8 months), Anika (7 months)
Where:  Intercontinental Bali
When:  27th Dec – 6th Jan 2013 (weather dry but cloudy.  Then turned rainy (daily) in January with occasional sun)

Hotel Booking
Direct through the Intercontinental website, very easy to do so

Flight Booking
Direct with Singapore Airlines (we flew from Singapore)

Airport Transfer
20 mins maximum.  This was included in price. It’s also worth considering VIP pick-up service if you are travelling with impatient kids

The Room
We booked a Singaraja Duplex Suite, which is in the (renovated) Singaraja wing.  It is a split level room, with the living and dining area downstairs, and the bedroom upstairs.

Baby/Kid Facilities
Bali Intercontinental 2The hotel itself is not the newest in Bali – some parts do show their age.  But it is a large resort – lots of places for kids to run around / explore.  They have a kid’s club called Planet Trekker – if you book the club room, access to Planet Trekker is free, otherwise there is a charge.  Children younger than 4 have to be accompanied by an adult to enter the kid’s club.  This brings me to the Resort Nannies (professional nanny service for children under 4) – these ladies are amazing.  You can book them as little ro as much as you want – there is an 8 hour package for USD 50.  Highly recommended: Ibu Suwati, Ibu Yuli or Ibu Asti.

There are lots of pools.  The club rooms also have an additional pool.  Good access to the beach.

Food was great!  Choices of several restaurants.  We hardly left the hotel to eat.
Go to Bella Cucina for breakfast (not as noisy/crowded), Cafe Jimbaran for Indonesian fare and the Japanese restaurant (need advance reservation).

We didn’t do any excursions outside the hotel as we were too busy having fun at the pool / beach.

In Conclusion…
I rate this hotel 5 out of 5 for family friendliness and would definitely go back
