This Chinese New Year (Feb 2013), we spent a week with friends at Ban Haad Sai, a luxury villa in Koh Samui. I have been to Samui many times and stayed in numerous villas. However, the company I normally use did not have any reasonably priced 7 bed villas and luckily a friend stumbled across this little (well, enormous) gem.
Website pictures are often misleading so here are my candid shots. I highly recommend this villa if you are travelling in a big group. We were 12 adults, 5 kids, 2 toddlers and 1 baby.
I completed an Enquiry form through the website http://www.thehouseonthebeach.com/reservation.php. Desiree from the White Rose Management Company responded immediately and was extremely helpful. We received a 10% early bird discount and paid just over USD$18,000 for 9 nights (included 1 round trip airport transfer, chef and daily maid service). She also arranged for the extra kids bedding e.g. travel cots and mattresses
The villa is a 15 minute drive from Samui Airport and located on Bangrak beach, a fairly quiet stretch of golden sand. At street level there are pharmacies, convenience stores, massage, bars and a few restaurants. You are a 10 minute drive from the fisherman’s village of Bophut which is fabulous for restaurants and shopping.
The resident villa staff appear twice daily to clean. The Villa Manager, Khun Am was very helpful in organising meal times, excursions, laundry collection and answering any questions we had. We had also requested a daily chef service and the food was excellent (so much so, we ate in the villa most days). The villa has a menu and you pick your lunch/dinner in the morning. At the end of your stay you pay for the groceries.
The villa is made up of 2 mirroring buildings, each with its own living area, master bedroom, and two further double bedrooms. There is a separate annexe with a gym, bedroom and ensuite bathroom.
It’s always a worry when you’re sharing a big villa that someone is going to end up with the ‘dud’ room. I have to say that the standard of all 7 bedrooms was very good. Yes, the Master Bedrooms are the most luxurious but all are big and have ensuite bathrooms.
