What Did My Kids Think About The Road Trip?

As we sat down to a 5am breakfast (cursed jet lag), I decided to have a reminisce with the kids to find out what they thought of our recent New Mexico road trip:

The girls in Roswell….

The girls in Roswell….

Where did we go?

5yo – New Mexico and Albuquerque and Santa Fe.  I can’t remember the name of the country though…

What was your favourite activity?

5yo – Tobogganing! Also pony riding and going on the water slide

Sliding the dunes at White Sands National Park

2yo – Going to school.  Cue quizzical look from me at which point my 5yo chimes in with ‘I think she means shepherding school’.  Again, quizzical look. Then I realised she meant the ‘sheriff’s school’ that the girls took part in at the Flying J Ranch.  Once that was cleared up the 2yo kept going…

AND diving under the water and the pretend hot balloon museum.

The Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Museum!

What was your favourite food?

5yo – Ribs

2yo – Scrambled eggs (I don’t think she had any on the trip but hey ho)

What was your favourite hotel?

5yo – The Four Seasons because I really liked the bed (clearly a luxury traveller this one)

2yo – The house with all the toys (she means our airbnb rental in Taos)

Cheaper than a motel room - we got a 2 bed house through airbnb

What was your least favourite thing?

5yo – Nothing

2yo – When Yarden takes all my toys (she’s now talking about a friend of hers who lives in our building)

Would you recommend this trip to your friends?  Is it something they’d like to do?

5yo – No, let’s keep it a secret

On that note, it wouldn’t be fair to keep our wonderful New Mexico road trip a secret. Stay tuned for road trip week, where I’ll give you the lowdown on our trip and hopefully inspire some of you to head to the ‘land of enchantment’…
