Vietnamese beach luxury at the Hyatt Regency Danang

From the end of March 2013, Dragonair will fly direct to Danang.  This means easy access to Vietnam’s beautiful Central Coast.  If you fancy a beach break with short transfers from Danang airport, check out this review of the Hyatt Regency located on China Beach.

Who: Marcelle & husband Dan, Noah (3yo) and Adiella (18 mth) and nanny
Where:  Hyatt Regency, Danang – Vietnam
When: 27Dec – 3 Jan 2013 (weather nice except 1 day, approx 25 degrees)

Flight Booking
Booked flights from Hong Kong to Hanoi with HK Airlines via their website.  This was the worst airline I have ever flown anywhere in the world (had mucked up booking)!  Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi to Danang were very good.

Hotel Booking
We booked through the hotel website and paid US$485 per night incl. tax and breakfast.

Hotel Transfers
These wer not included in the hotel rate (although informed the Manager that at that price they should be!)

Hyatt Regency Danang
The hotel is 20 mins from Danang Airport.

We booked a 2 Bed Residence which was spacious and decorated with Vietnamese art.
Danang Hyatt Regency LoungeThe benefit of the Residences are that you also get a kitchenette, in addition to a big sitting area and the bedrooms.  There is a lovely balcony that looks out to sea.

Hotel Facilities
There were 4 stunning pools, although a bit cold.  There was no separate kids pool but the pools were shallow enough for them to play.  The beach was absolutely gorgeous (apparently one of top 10 beaches in the world).

Kids Facilities
The hotel provided 2 travel cots for our room.

The Kids Club ‘Camp Hyatt’ wasn’t that great, although according to the Manager, they are putting in improvements over the next year.  You had to pay to use the Kids Club and essentially all it had in there was a TV.  For older kids there is a climbing wall and activities.  For younger kids there is an outdoor climbing frame although this is unshaded.

Restaurants
Our room rate included breakfast which was great.  We are kosher so we had brought our own food for the kids and used the kitchen in the room.

We had a delicious meal at the Fusion Maia resort, a short walk out of the hotel down the ‘strip’.

In Conclusion…
The hotel is only a year old and still has a few things to improve on.  It is family friendly although probably more suited to older kids rather than younger ones.

It is in a good location and there is also a nearby shopping centre with a big play area.
