MEET THE BLOGGER: INGA FROM COOL KIDZ COOL TRIPS

This week, meet Inga from CoolkidzCooltrips, a fab travel blog which has a little bit of everything, including some great posts on their current home Slovenia.Cool Kidz

How long have you been writing your blog and what prompted you to start?

I started in August 2012 but I was thinking about doing it for a bit longer. I just had my second daughter and felt that this time around I knew all about handling a baby, nursing and diaper changing. So during our walks in the park, I came up with the idea of a blog, to kind of get my creative juices flowing, to not just be Mommy all the time and to have a place to share my thoughts and ideas.  Besides at that time we were planning a trip to Canada and being a big travel fan I also wanted to inspire parents out there to not be afraid of exploring the world with their tots.

Describe your travel style in 3 words?

Hm, hm. I never really thought about it, but now these three words stand out: slow, fun and different point of view.

What’s your favorite family friendly destination?

We love to be out and about and certainly our way of traveling has changed since we welcomed our daughters into the midst. These days we make an effort to find destinations where each one of us will find something right up their alley. We know our limitations and we want the trips to be fun and relaxed, so we have learned to pace ourselves and let the daily routine be a little loose. Following this recipe we have so far managed to enjoy all of our trips; Canada, Germany, UK, Spain, etc. My favorite without a doubt would be Switzerland, great nature, beautiful cities and villages and lots of playgrounds.

What’s on your bucket list for 2015?

I’d like to say a lot, but so far we only have one big trip planned and we are really excited about it. In January we are off the explore Singapore and Malaysia. We are so consumed by it, that we don’t even bother thinking about what the rest the year will bring. We’ll see, just now we are planning – which is almost as fun as the trip itself but a whole lot more frustrating with so much we want to see.

Have you ever had any epic travel fails?

Yes. I guess everyone has to have such a story. A year ago we were spending a weekend in Hungary and I had booked an apartment on a ranch about 30 kilometers from Budapest. First it was almost impossible to find and once we finally got there, nobody was there. It was eight in the evening, all was already dark and we couldn’t figure out what was going on. In the end we did manage to find a keeper of the farm, who spoke not a word of English and after a few minutes of talking while using my hands and my phone, where I had the booking confirmation, he called the owner who explained he knew nothing about it. Still he now couldn’t provide us with a place to sleep. So, we left in search of a different place. Luckily we found a perfect family owned hotel just a few miles away and managed to have a good night’s sleep.

What’s your number one packing tip?

You can forget anything except money and passports.
