Diaper Bag Review: The Stylish Skip Hop Duo Special Edition

“Oooh that’s a nice bag”, my friend Sally exclaimed as she spied my new bag in the corner.  That’s when you know you’ve hit the sartorial jackpot – a friend makes a comment on your bag without realising it’s actually a diaper bag…

For years I’ve never understood why countless brands would design ugly baby bags with prints that scream ‘oh look at me I’m so sleep deprived!’.  Thankfully Skip Hop’s latest collection of diaper/nappy bags actually look like fashion accessories, albeit wipe clean and with a changing mat.

I recently roadtested the ‘Aztec’ from the Duo special edition range.  The bag has plenty of pockets (9!) but not so overloaded that you might forget where you placed your passports and phone.  The zipped pockets on the side are insulated so great to keep food in.  There’s plenty of room for bottles, from two open bottle pockets on the front of the bag (with magnetic closures) and two more bottle pockets inside.

There are two further zipped large pockets, one shallow-ish and one deep.  As mentioned, the deep one has compartments for two bottles.

The outside pocket is the perfect place for all your nappy gear and the bag comes with a padded changing mat.

The adjustable shoulder strap is comfortable and there is a stroller strap which is extremely useful.

The bag is extremely lightweight. I carried it through the airport laden down with laptop, kids gear and it felt pretty comfortable.

The Duo Special Edition comes in a range of four seriously stylish colours. Best of all, it has a wipeable fabric which is a necessity when traveling with young kids.

Overall I love this bag.  They’ve finally got the look right so you feel as if you’re carrying a stylish yet functional bag.  In fact I’ve even been using it for work…

How much is it?

In Hong Kong you can find the bag at Bumps to Babes for HKD625.  Overseas, check out Skip Hop’s website for store locator or to order direct.

Jetlag & Mayhem was sent a bag for review.  I was not paid for this review and this is my opinion.
